Hello,
I hope this blog finds you all well and being Happy Hook-ers!
This is my newest crochet blanket design which has been inspired by my love of Stained Glass. (I still have the edging to do!)
I usually create my blanket courses for online courses, but this time I have decided to try something a little different and open it up to the public domain. Normally I give out links in a WhatsApp group whilst also keeping an eye on everyone's progress throughout the length of the course.... so obviously, doing it this way means I won't be around to nag you to get your home work finished. But the blanket is totally do-able in 12 weeks if you keep up with the weekly tasks - of course, you can take as long as you like and do it in your own time :)
I have used Stylecraft Special DK for this blanket, but of course, you can change it up and use your own colours - can you imagine how nice this might look in shades of one colour? I must try that!!
The Stylecraft Special DK comes in 100g balls and the shades I have used for this blanket are:
2 x Atlantis
2 x GreenGage
2 x Viola
2 x Carnation
1also used my most favourite crochet hook - the Clover Amour - in sz 4.50mm. (which you can find by using this link!)
Anyway.......what's going to happen is that every Monday I shall put up a blog post with the weekly pattern on it. There will be 10 different mosaic squares, followed by joining and edging, making a total of 12 weeks of the 'Happiest Hooking' ever!
Of course, I would love to see progress, tag me on Facebook or Instagram (Sooz in The Shed) and I shall be notified and can pop along and have a look. If you use Instagram you could also add the hashtag #StainedGlassCrochetBlanket and we can all see each others then,
So, I plan to start this off on Monday 12th May 2025. Each week there will be a blog post here, which I will also share on my Facebook account - Sooz in The Shed which will contain the link to the video tutorial and a pattern to sit along side it. My patterns are designed to just be a back-up for the video and don't often make a lot of sense on their own.
I've done all the hard work now in designing, videoing, editing, writing and sewing in lots of ends.... so I can now sit back and watch you all create your own lovely Stained Glass inspired crochet blanket.
Hope you enjoy.
