Sometimes when I am sitting watching TV I need a crochet project ... actually EVERYTIME I sit in front of the TV I need a crochet project, otherwise I just fall asleep! Do you to that too?
Anyway, one of my recent ones was this glow strip blanket. Crocheted using Granny Square clusters but on the diagonal. The trick to make it glow is in choosing the right tones of the shades you are using.
I always use Stylecraft Special DK for my blankets, for lots of reasons -
- 1: It's affordable
- 2: It comes in many different colours - 100 shades at last count!
- 3: It is 100% premium acrylic to washes really well
- 4: I have a yarn wall in my craft room with all the colours to hand :)
(if you would like a yarn pack made up of the colours I have used, all or any of them, just drop me an email on soozintheshed@gmail.com or a Whatsapp on 07933947755)
The glow strip shades I have used for this are:
Green Strip - Kelly Green / Spring Green / Bright Green
Purple Strip - Proper Purple / Wisteria / Heather
Blue Strip - Empire / Turquoise / Sherbet
Yellow Strip - Dandelion / Citron / Lemon
Pink Strip - Fiesta / Fondant / Candy Floss
I am also using Graphite, which is a Dark Grey, and Black.
I have used a 4.50mm Clover Amour crochet hook - these are my absolute favourite hooks as they just glide over the yarn.
So, if you are ready for the video and fancy having a go at this yourself, then you can find it here....
I absolutely love when people tag me in their creations of my patterns, you can do this on Facebook, Instagram and even Tiktok! The name is the same - Sooz in The Shed.
Oh, and just for transparency, if you buy anything from Amazon using the links I provided I get a small commission. just pennies if I remember rightly, but it doesn't cost you a bean :)
