Earring Class at Hobbycraft

Last Thursday saw the start of a new 'beginners jewellery making' class at Hobbycraft, Carlisle.  Four lovely ladies all same along wanting to learn how to ate their own trinkets.

Week 1 was an earring class. One of the hardest things of this class is choosing the beads! We used a colour wheel to help make colour choices.

Ooooo, look at the concentration from Claire.

Barbara busy making her second pair.

Happy with their jewellery, Claire, Barbara, Dorothy & Karen.

They all did such a great job and will re back next week to make bracelets.

These are a few I made as samples, they are going in the 'Birthday Blog Box', ready for the big give-away in February :)

So, so far in the Birthday Blog Box we have....

Bead & Banter

Tuesday was our monthly Bead & Banter group at Hobbycraft.

It was great to see some old faces back again, and there were so any different projects on the go - from earrings to bead-weaving, coil bracelets & wire work.

It was a good old beady chin wag with plenty of noise, lots of laughs & some nice jewellery to boot.

We have these on the 1st Tuesday of every month, 6.00-7.30pm at Carlisle Hobbycraft. Pop along to the next one if you like, we are going to be doing some Soutache.

Jewellery class at Hobbycraft

Last night saw in another beginners Jewellery Class at Hobbycraft in Carlisle.

The two ladies, Jeanette and Tori, seemed to have loads of fun, mixing beads and colours and coming up with designs that they loved.

We did earrings  (3 pairs) a tigertail necklace with a dangly pendant and a sliding cord necklace.

I made these earrings as samples, sometimes I like just messing about with beads you know  ;)

Actually, I am giving the purple and green ones away on my Facebook page, pop along and put your name down if you fancy them  :)

Beginners Jewellery Making

After my two weeks off work (weaving class & Cornish holiday) I returned with vigour - and a new class list which kicked off a Hobbycraft, Carlisle yesterday with a 'Beginners Jewellery Class'

It was nice to jump back into it & we made lots of lovely trinkets, including earrings (3 pairs) two necklaces and a bracelet.  All this for just £10 inc materials - it's a bargain I tell ya, a bargain :)

Why is beading so messy ?  :)

Would anyone like these earrings? I made them as examples, they're on nickel free silver plated wires.

First to comment on this blog gets them, both pairs, delivered anywhere in the world.  QUICK... SHOUT..... NOW!

I will work on an up-to-date list off all up coming classes, once I can find my website editing software on my new laptop  ;)

Classes At Hobbycraft - Display

I've just put together a new class list for Hobbycraft.  Not a lot of customers realise that we offer classes and workshops so we had to think of some way of promoting it.

Behind the checkout is a shelf, which usually gets filled up with bits of crafts that colleagues have done, but now it is a "Class Display Shelf"  and wo-betide of anyone should dump something on there!!

Marie was in one day last week doing a kid's summer school class and when she had a little lull I asked her very nicely if she would bash me out some foam frames.  Bless her cottons, she did too.

Each class now has it's own section on the shelf.  Fliers are printed off and sitting on the shelf beside the advert - all we need now is to get the spaces filled up with examples.

So, if you are close to Carlisle and you fancy learning something new, pop along, have a look at what is on offer and treat yourself to a class or two  :)

'Bead & Banter' at Hobbycraft

Tuesday night was our "Bead & Banter" evening at Hobbycraft, Carlisle.

It is a tutored group, ran my myself, and it costs just £5.00 - you bring your own projects or buy something in store to do.

You can either come every month (first Tuesday in the month) or just as a one off, but it is advisable to book a place.

Marie came for the first time to make herself some jewellery for a wedding, she brought along the top from her outfit and matched it perfectly.

She was so pleased with her necklace that she managed to make herself a bracelet and some matching earrings too!

Elizabeth brought a spiral staircase beadweaving kit along and sat and had a good chin-wag while beading.

Jennifer 'played' with Shrink-Plastic and had a really good time colouring in her owls  :)  (why is colouring in so therapeutic?)

This lovely necklace was made up from glass beads and buttons, the project leaflet can be found in store and it looked great when it was finished.

And Irene finished off her jewellery set for a wedding she is going to, necklace, bracelet and earrings.

Fancy coming to the next one?  It's on Tuesday 2nd July, 6.00pm-3.70pm.  Maybe see you there.....

Jewellery making at Hobbycraft

Tonight I did a beginners jewellery making class at Hobbycraft.

It was an earring class and we spent two hours designing, making and showing off our earrings  :)

The ladies seemed to have loads of fun, and it was quite a lively, chatty night - just how I like it!

If you are following my crochet wavy blanket then you will be pleased to hear that I have now received the lilac yarn I ordered and I have added it into the blanket.

A nice dark pink next  :)

Jewellery making class at Higham Hall.

Last weekend I did my first jewellery making for beginners class at Higham Hall.

I usually do glass-bead making, so this was a new class for me.

The class was from Friday evening through to Sunday morning.  There was just four people booked on the course so it was nice and friendly and the students could grab some one-to-one tuition  not that any of them needed it  :)

Some of the students were a little camera shy, except Sarah & Jose, so I only took pics of them, but somehow the one of Sarah is missing, so sorry Sarah, if you are reading this  :)

These are some of the samples I did at the class....

And the students work  :)  Didn't they do great?
