Crochet & Crack at Hobbycraft

Last night we held our first "Crochet & Crack" group at Hobbycraft, Carlisle.

This has followed on from a 4 week beginners class, where all the lovely ladies wanted to carry on meeting up, sharing ideas and having crafty fun.

First let me explain the word "Crack".  If you are not Cumbrian or Scottish then you might not have come across it. (Although I believe some Irish people use it too)  More commonly spelt as "Craic", you might hear a Cumbrian greet someone with "Hiya, got any crack?"    Having a Southern born husband, this worried him quite a bit in the early days as he thought everyone was asking everyone else for drugs!

Crack equals Gossip.  Simple.

So our Crochet & Crack group is just an excuse for having a good old chin wag with a hook in our hands.

There is some beautiful work being produced.

Rachel's gorgeous pastel baby blanket....

Fiona's unusual cushion....

Other ladies are busy with colourful blankets of their own.

And we had two new starters to Crochet, they have started on off Granny Squares and are doing really well.

This is going to be a regular group, held on the 2nd Monday of every month.  Feel free to come along and join us.
